Three years ago Marta sent me an email asking if we could get together to discuss some future work, she’s a independent art curator based in Lisbon and from the get go everything worked as it should, she was working at a gallery at that time, and three years later she and two other friends started TARA, filling up the gap between all kind of artist and a way to show their work in all art forms. After putting up their first Exhibition for Kid Richard’s first photography book “Let’s Get Lost Here”, TARA went on a journey which, I was lucky enough to be asked to join alongside with Carlos “FOFI” Cipriano to bring to life the exhibition video teaser, theme song and poster, and, what a night, I must say it was around 5am when we joined David Marques (D.O.P) at the location, everything went smooth as always, video shot, photos taken, theme song composed, video edited, SPAM.
A month passed by and TATTOO YOU was getting set, and once again Carlos “FOFI” Cipriano and a bunch of holy hearts started putting all the set in place for the next day, it seems easy now that I’m writing it, but, it wasn’t, there’s no reason to lie, but it was worth it, every hour lost, every notion of frustration, all the doubts about if it would work, and…it did, it was a blast to see it all coming to life, all the different kinds of art lover’s, age’s and religions. TARA’s first Exhibitions made something different, and I’m not saying that being different is good, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t bad, it’s something embedded in Human nature, let’s not lose it.
